After the death of an unarmed man in police custody, riots have engulfed the twin cities in Minnesota. The night of May 27 saw relatively peaceful protests descend into mass violence, disarray, and looting. It is expected that it will continue on the night of May 28. This is an extremely fluid situation, and as such, this story will be updated throughout the night.

Rioting has spread from Minneapolis, Minnesota to nearby St. Paul, Minnesota. As of 7:22 CDT, there are multiple reports of officers being assaulted, vandalism, looting, and gunshots.

Looters are reportedly attempting to set fire to Gordon Parks High School in St. Paul. Close by, Police are requesting permission from command to drop CS canisters on a crowd of rowdy protestors; request was approved. Use is imminent.

Rioters are attempting to break through fences in front of the 3rd Precinct in Minneapolis. Police Department is deploying non-lethal measures, including flash bangs, CS gas. Crowds are dispersing.
Hundreds of miles away, Columbus Police in Ohio are using CS gas to disperse crowds.

A very heavy deployment of CS gas has been initiated on the crowd attempting to breach 3rd Precinct in Minneapolis.

A pawnshop near the 3rd Precinct in Minneapolis has been burned to the ground. Dispatch is encouraging officers in all city districts to have high awareness at all times. From a quick search, it appears as though the pawnshop is a federally registered firearms distributor.

The 3rd precinct in Minneapolis has fallen to the rioters. Fires have been set inside, with protestors moving freely around the premises. People are scavenging through police equipment.
