Live: Minnesota Riots

After the death of an unarmed man in police custody, riots have engulfed the twin cities in Minnesota. The night of May 27 saw relatively peaceful protests descend into mass violence, disarray, and looting. It is expected that it will continue on the night of May 28. This is an extremely fluid situation, and as such, this story will be updated throughout the night.

Rioting has spread from Minneapolis, Minnesota to nearby St. Paul, Minnesota. As of 7:22 CDT, there are multiple reports of officers being assaulted, vandalism, looting, and gunshots.

Looters are reportedly attempting to set fire to Gordon Parks High School in St. Paul. Close by, Police are requesting permission from command to drop CS canisters on a crowd of rowdy protestors; request was approved. Use is imminent.

Police units are forming a defensive perimeter around EMS and Firefighters in the St. Paul area.



The Intelligence Ledger has acquired photos of the inside of the St. Paul Target currently being raided by looters.

Police have moved to capture Discount Tire Co. on University Ave. in St. Paul from rioters.

Reports are emerging of firefighters being targeted with projectiles. These firefighters are believed to be battling a fire at a liquor store in St. Paul.

Firearm incidents are being reported around locations where Antifa groups are known to operate. Police have been attack with fireworks and rocks.

Rioters are attempting to break through fences in front of the 3rd Precinct in Minneapolis. Police Department is deploying non-lethal measures, including flash bangs, CS gas. Crowds are dispersing.



Hundreds of miles away, Columbus Police in Ohio are using CS gas to disperse crowds.

Another building on fire in St. Paul. Fire Department has been dispatched. Police Dispatchers attempting to locate unit to escort the FD into the area.

A very heavy deployment of CS gas has been initiated on the crowd attempting to breach 3rd Precinct in Minneapolis.

A pawnshop near the 3rd Precinct in Minneapolis has been burned to the ground. Dispatch is encouraging officers in all city districts to have high awareness at all times. From a quick search, it appears as though the pawnshop is a federally registered firearms distributor.

The 3rd precinct in Minneapolis has fallen to the rioters. Fires have been set inside, with protestors moving freely around the premises. People are scavenging through police equipment.

Unverified reports of SWAT activity on Hiawatha Ave, opposite of the 3rd precinct. There may soon be an attempt to retake the facility by force.

United States Air Force C-130s, under callsigns VIKING 6-1 and Viking 6-2 respectively, have landed in the Minneapolis area. Unknown if this is related to the current riots.

The National Guard has announced 500 guardsmen are being activated to deal with the crisis in St. Paul and Minneapolis.
