Sentinel Project: Supreme People's Court of the People's Republic of China

The Supreme People’s Court (SPC) is the highest judicature in the People’s Republic of China. On paper, the SPC is an independent and unbiased body dedicated to the rule of law. In reality, the court is dedicated to the survival of the state and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

The court’s duties include approval of death sentences, approval of arbitration related matters, judicial interpretations of laws and legislation, and the deliberation of cases in Beijing or circuit courts.
