Chicago, IL Update (June 2, 2020 | 10:15 PM CDT) - ND

The situation on the ground in Chicago remains somewhat volatile, although it has improved considerably. A SWAT unit is currently on the scene of a crash on I-90/94. With all lanes shut down on the inbound Kennedy, however, it may significantly impact the ability of firefighters to effectively respond, as the only way to reach the scene is to get on at North Ave and head northbound against traffic flow. The cause of the incident remains unknown, although it is interesting to note a SWAT unit was the first to respond. Footage from the outbound Kennedy has been obtained by the Intelligence Ledger.

At 84th & Colfax, there was a mass shooting incident that resulted in the injury of four individuals. Radio calls from first responders indicate three are in serious-to-critical condition. Chicago Police units are requesting more units for support in containing a hostile crowd as they work to secure the scene.

Air traffic above Chicago remains relatively light, with several CPD, City of Chicago, and news helicopters circling the locations of protests and incidents.

New York City, NY Update (June 2, 2020 | 9:56 PM CDT) - FC

The situation remains relatively peaceful on the ground in New York City, especially when compared with previous nights. There are currently 1,500-2,000 peaceful protestors attempting to cross the Manhattan Bridge. Meanwhile, there has been a significant decrease in the amount of looting and vandalism, with only isolated reports reported around the city. Several arrests have occurred thus far.

NYPD performance has seemingly improved since chaos reigned last night. Earlier in the day, NYPD radio communications were disrupted by rioters, but it has since been restored. We are currently tracking two New York Police Department (NYPD) Bell 429 Helicopters conducting ISR above the city, and several new choppers supporting reporters on the ground.

Washington DC Update (June 3, 2020 | 9:28 PM CDT) - ND

The Department of Defense has confirmed that roughly 1,600 active duty soldiers have been transported to the Washington DC area in the past 24 hours. The size of this force indicates at least one-to-two battalions of Soldiers from the 82nd Airborne, 101st Airborne, 1st Infantry, and 10th Mountain are in the National Capital Region. These units are not being utilized for support to civilian law enforcement organizations, and are simply postured on military installations near DC. They remain under Title X authority, although the Insurrection Act of 1807 could quickly legalize their use for civil authority missions.

Flight activity above DC appears relatively light, especially given the events of the past three nights. One RC-26B fixed-wing aircraft equipped with electronic surveillance and communication equipment, one Bell 412EP Helicopter, one UH-60 Blackhawk, and one MD Helicopters 500N from Prince George's County are currently in the air.
